For anyone wanting to do Med/Dent/Pharm in Romania

Hi

I’m a third year dentistry student at UMF Iasi (GT Popa). I transferred from Czech Republic because it’s cheaper here and the system is easier. I have been here for 3 months now so I understand the place well. Unfortunately I got ripped off by an agent when doing my application. He didn’t get me a place and I had to go to uni to do everything myself. I also got screwed when looking for accommodation. Agents everywhere! I met one guy from Malaysia who was charged 7000 Euros just to get a place. It’s an easy trap to fall into but YOU DONT NEED AN AGENT (not anymore anyway)

Lots of people are asking me if I can help them apply to UMF Iasi. This is why I’m here. I’m very angry about what happened to me. I met 2 other guys who also got conned and we have decided to start doing applications for anyone who wants to come to study Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy at UMF Iasi. We are genuinely here to help you and we will sort out your documents, the legalising and apostilling process, submit your application to the university, pick you up from the airport, give you temporary accommodation until you manage to find a apartment that you like, help you open a bank account, get a sim card, get extra luggage sent over from your home country and anything else you need help with. Things like getting a sim card may seem small but because of the beauracracy here, it could take a whole day just to get a prepaid sim card!

So why should you apply to UMF Iasi?

- University tuition fee is just €5000 (probably cheapest in the EU) and can be paid in monthly instalments if need
- Living cost is very cheap - you can live the whole year, rent and living cost included, for just €1800 if you want to save money. But if you want to live like a king, go out every day, eat out every day, then it’ll only cost you €4000 in total. For example a chicken shawarma wrap costs just €2 and a cinema ticket costs just €4
- The pass mark is 50%. This is very good considering in Czech Republic it was 70%! The system is much easier. Also, you only need 45 credits out of 60 to pass the year. This means that you don’t need to pass every subject to progress (but it’s good to pass everything because you will still have to make it up later)
- 99% pass rate I.E. EVERYONE passes. I have not met one person who has had to repeat the year.
- You get up to 6 months holidays throughout the year. The academic year starts in October, you get 1 month for Christmas, 1 month for Easter and the year ends in June so that 3 months for summer holidays. Also if you do well in exams you can get 2 weeks at the end of February after winter exams and 2 weeks at the end of June after summer exams.
- City is big, cheap and student orientated – most of the city is made up of students so there are lots of things to do here. You will definitely not get bored!

So if any of you want to apply here then please contact me and ill tell you what to do. Its not hard but its very long and tedious.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a summary I did of my first few weeks in this place. It might help give you an idea:

Iasi is a proper city, about 300,000 population. It’s a proper student place. There are 12 universities in the city and about 80,000 students. In each year of UMF-Iasi (University of Medicine and Pharmacy) there are 1000 students. Students come from everywhere - Greece, Canada, USA, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Kuwait, Norway, Palestine, UK, Ireland, Iran and more.

It's quite Americanised, they have malls and shopping centres, yellow Taxis, food courts, wide roads etc. And there's a lot of work going on here as well. Taxis are very cheap. A 10 minute trip to the mosque or mall costs little more than €1.5. This place is big enough to be using Taxis frequently though.

There are a lot of food places to go to. You can choose between Italian, Turkish, Lebanese, American, Chinese and they have all the big restaurants like McDonalds, KFC, Subway, Starbucks etc

Life here is too relaxed though. The people here like to take their time. If they don't feel like doing something they won't do it. But if they next guy after you wanted the same thing, they will do it for him! They get annoyed very easily as well and it doesn’t take much for them to start complaining.

hi everyone. i just recently joined this medical forum. i am from london uk. i will be applying for 2013 entry to constanta medical school. someone recommended me the following website so i can apply as i heard its a big headache to get the acceptance.

tomorrows-doctors and the usual ending {as this webpage doesnt allow me to post links}

i wasnt very sure so i went to constanta with my dad and brother and to my astonishment these people were doctors working in the main hospital who were helping students, but indeed charge cash.

they were very friendly and co-operative and they explained to me in detail the whole procedure.

i want to know if i should go ahead with this procedure? how are romanian people? i would reccommend these doctors to others who want to apply to medical school.....but i still dont know what to do.

Hello I am student of medicine 2 year in Lviv(Ukraine) but I am polish nationality and I would like to transfer to Romania for ex Oradea to 3rd year, I already wrote to admission department and miss Ramona rewrote to me that Lviv students are accepted and I can send documents but I am not sure abt the price of studies, I saw messages where people says that on each higher year the payment is lower like for ex 1 year is 4000 euro and next years are less expensive for ex last year is even 500 euro, is it true ? Can anyone tell me please how much would I have to pay if I transfer to 2nd or 3rd year of general medicine (English) faculty ? And I also heard there is exam from biology or chemistry, and if I pass it I can pay less for studies, is it possible for the transferring students ? and one more question, Before I send my documents to Oradea do I have to send them to ministry of education in ?Romania to be accepted ? and to how many universities can I send the documents, is there any limit ? I would be grateful for reply to any of this questions :)

Application to medical University in Romania - Oradea/Timisoara

Hello guys,

I am a student in the UK who is applying for Medical Studies in Romanian Universities (I’m looking towards Timisoara and Oradea mainly).

I am preparing the documentation myself and need some help/advice and would really appreciate it if anyone could help me:

  1. Do my A-Level Certificates have to be appostiled and or legalised?
  2. Depending on the answer to no.1 could you please tell me where this should/must be done? (for the application to the university as well as the ministry of education/external affairs of Romania)
  3. Does anyone have any resources or advice on the entrance exams required for the medical universities in Romania namely the ones mentioned above.

If anyone is also applying to medicine in these universities it would be nice to have a conversation with you.

Thanks & Regards:
Tillu.

What do they ask in Constanta's entrance exam?

Anyone applying to Carol Davila (Bucharest)

Hi everybody, right now I'm a 2nd year student at Carol Davila, and I know the application process is a hassle, especially getting the acceptance letter from the Ministry of Education. If anyone is in need of a relatively inexpensive agent send me a message and I can pass on the contact information of the one I used. I ensure you that she gets the job done as quickly as possible and doesn't promise anything she can't actually do, unlike some other agencies. I will try to respond to messages as soon as possible once i receive them, thanks.

125 places are available this year for first year medical students. Dont leave it for the last minute and start applying as soon as!

Furthermore transfers are going to be difficult this year, but not impossible.

I dont visit this forum regularly so leave me a message in my inbox if you have further queries. Or you can write me a mail, but please ask me questions which are not already answered already on this forum. Furthermore please dont ask me about agents, as i dont know any, and if you are not in the position to get youre admission done alone due to the stress and hardwork, be prepared to pay me, as i won do anyones admission for free...as ive heard alot of students ask me to do so....and some ignorant students 'so called future doctors' dont even have the curtiosy to say thank you after getting tons of advice from me.

I will try my best to guide everyone on the right path, and respect each other. I wish everone the best of luck.
